The Nano-Bio-Rem technology, developed with funding from TAČR (project TA01021792), is based on the sequential combination of abiotic Cr(VI) reduction using nanoscale iron and microbially mediated Cr(VI) reduction. Laboratory and pilot-scale tests confirmed high efficiency in permanently removing Cr(VI) from groundwater. The technology is environmentally friendly, does not introduce harmful substances into the subsurface, and does not cause long-term adverse changes in the hydrochemical composition or microbiology of groundwater. The project resulted in a validated technology and registered Utility Model No. 28124.
