Diesel engines used in backup power sources or fire pumps are regulated air emission sources when their thermal input is 0.3 MW or more, requiring a permit for operation under air protection regulations. The number of operating hours is not decisive in this case. Thermal input is often not specified on the equipment label or in technical documentation. However can be calculated using commonly available values or manufacturer-provided data.

According to the information provided in the technical documentation, enter either the engine output (kW) or diesel consumption (at maximum output) in the appropriate field. If both values are available, it is recommended to use diesel consumption, as the calculation of power input is more accurate (it does not rely on the average efficiency of diesel engines, which can vary depending on the engine type). The calculated power input will be displayed in the right-hand column.

Data according to technical documentation

Output  kW Calculated power input  kW
Diesel fuel consumption  l/hod Calculated power input  kW

Obecně známe parametry

Approximate engine efficiency with turbo 35 %
Diesel density 0,83 kg/l
Diesel heating value 42,6 MJ/kg
