In collaboration with HECON and ERM, we participated in a risk assessment study for an industrial site in the eastern part of Kolín, a location with over a century of industrial activity. The site presents complex hydrogeological and geological conditions, such as its position on a hydrogeological divide and the presence of remnants of Cretaceous sediments. The study also assessed the potential inflow of contamination from neighbouring industrial facilities.
Together with DEKONTA, we contributed to a risk assessment study for the extensive Istrochem chemical plant in Bratislava. The area was contaminated with a wide range of chemicals resulting from the production of explosives, pesticides, herbicides, and rubber processing agents. Two scenarios for future land use were considered: continuation of industrial operations or full redevelopment into a residential zone. Based on the risk analysis, remediation of soil and groundwater was recommended for both options.
For Panattoni, we developed a risk assessment based on a site investigation of historical subsurface impact at the former POLDI Engineering Works in Kladno. In collaboration with the Czech Environmental Inspectorate (ČIŽP), the state enterprise Povodí Vltavy, and other stakeholders, we proposed remediation target values and outlined a framework for remediation and redevelopment activities, aligned with the site's planned conversion into a modern industrial and logistics park. The investigation and expert support were carried out in coordination with Vodní zdroje a.s., which oversees the overall remediation strategy for the industrial area.
For the main remediation works contractor, ENVI-AQUA s.r.o., we implemented the remediation of a contamination hotspot using controlled enhanced reductive dechlorination. Whey was used as a fermentable substrate to stimulate microbial activity.
